about

this is our story

Chef David entered the restaurant business at just 13 years old, as a busboy at Villa Gallace on Indian Rocks Beach. In college, he found that he enjoyed cooking more than his classes, and decided that culinary school was a more fulfilling use of his time. He worked his way through the ranks at various restaurants, eventually running front line at Wolfgang Puck Spago in Colorado. His travels also took him to New York City, where he started at the bottom once again. A heavy focus on Italian cuisine at Fontainebleau Scarpetta in Miami ultimately led Chef David to put his own unique twist on traditional dishes. Upon returning to St. Pete, the modern Italian cooking style that Il Ritorno is known for was born.
